ABOUT

Dr Andrea Wheatley has been a qualified and registered Osteopath since 1999. Andrea updates her skills and knowledge with annual professional development training.  She has owned and operated clinics in Adelaide, Melbourne and Barcelona (alongside a Yoga studio for Mamas y Bebes) and she has worked in private practice in New Zealand

In addition to studying locally within Australia and New Zealand, Andrea completed 3 years training in Biodynamic Paediatrics at the Swiss Academy of Traditional Osteopathy, treating neuro-musculo-skeletal issues in babies and children.

Andrea has formerly been involved in teaching, tutoring and presenting research. Andrea's Masters research was published in the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine and she presented her work at the International Conference in Advances in Osteopathic Research.

She previously worked as a Clinical Supervisor to the 5th year Osteopathic students at Victoria University’s Osteopathic Medicine Clinic. After this appointment she fulfilled the role as Osteopathic Board member in South Australia for several years.

Andrea is passionate about health and fitness and loves camping, hiking and the outdoors.  She is also an 8th Grade Black Belt (Master rank) instructor of Filipino Martial Arts and a multiple World Champion.  The Martial Arts  has taught Andrea the importance of perseverance, subtle movements and biomechanical fulcrums, as well as the emphasis on philosophy and principles, rather than simply technique. Many parallels are shared between Osteopathy and Martial Arts and these universal concepts are easily cross-applied.

As an Osteopath Andrea has a keen interest in optimising biomechanical functioning of the body, regardless of age or level of involvement in sport.

Andrea can also speak Spanish for those patients who prefer this as their primary language for their Osteopathic consultation.
