Andrea completed her Osteopathic training, a five-year full-time Bachelor of Science (Clinical Sciences) and Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy) at Victoria University, Melbourne, graduating from the Masters program in 1998.

“I love the fact that Osteopathy offers a natural hands on approach to being well. It’s a form of health care that enables the body to utilise its own inherent healing abilities. I find it rewarding to work with people of all ages, from newborn babies to older adults.”

Andrea’s early studies after finishing her Masters were in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.  Most recently Andrea’s studies have been focused on a Biodynamic approach to Osteopathy. In addition to studying locally within Australia and New Zealand, Andrea completed 3 years training in Biodynamic Paediatrics at the Swiss Academy of Traditional Osteopathy, where she was one of 20 international Osteopaths involved in the program.  Andrea worked in Osteopathic practices in New Zealand, Spain and South Australia for 12 years, before returning to her hometown, Melbourne in 2011.

Andrea treats all ages from newborn babies through to older adults and has a preference for using a subtle, indirect approach to Osteopathic treatment.  Andrea completed further study and has an interest and more than 18 years of experience in treating neuro-musculo-skeletal issues in babies and children.

Andrea has formerly been involved in teaching, tutoring and presenting research. In 1999 she presented her Masters research relating to Osteopathy and lung function in people with asthma at Westminster University, London, at the International Conference on Advances in Osteopathic Research. She also published a paper relating to the same topic in 2000 in the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine where she examined how addressing the neuro-musculo-skeletal system could impact on people with asthma.

She previously worked as a Clinical Supervisor to the 5th year Osteopathic students at Victoria University’s Osteopathic Medicine Clinic. After this appointment she fulfilled the role as Osteopathic Board member in South Australia for several years.

Andrea is passionate about health and fitness and loves camping, hiking and the outdoors.  She is also an 8th Grade Black Belt (Master rank) instructor of Filipino Martial Arts and a multiple World Champion.  The Martial Arts  has taught Andrea the importance of perseverance, subtle movements and biomechanical fulcrums, as well as the emphasis on philosophy and principles, rather than simply technique. Many parallels are shared between Osteopathy and Martial Arts and these universal concepts are easily cross-applied.

As an Osteopath Andrea has a keen interest in optimising biomechanical functioning of the body, regardless of age or level of involvement in sport, Andrea believes that pain-free functioning should be a goal for everyone.

Andrea can also speak Spanish for those patients who prefer this as their primary language for their Osteopathic consultation.
